Lots of good things

Aug 29, 2010

I have been living in my home for a year now.  I can't believe how much I enjoy living in my own home.  My dogs love the freedom of their own yard, and I love my morning routine of petting them before I go off to work.

My job at Liberty Mutual is great.  The people I work with are the best and I really feel valued there.  It makes a huge difference when you are of "normal" weight.  It really shouldn't, but subconciously, it matters.

My sister has come to live with me for awhile.  She came with her three cats and we have had some interesting chorus sessions in the wee hours of the morning.  Thankfully, no one has really been outright aggressive, but there have been some close calls.

Well, take care!

New House on the Horizon

Apr 21, 2009

I am so excited and nervous.  I have talked about buying a house and was going to do it last year, but couldn't afford much.  I finally got tired of dealing with all of the nonsense going on at my apartment complex.

I went house hunting in March and found the house I wanted after seeing 5 homes.  I am now waiting for the bank to accept my offer.  My real estate agent has cautioned me that buying a house in a short sale is a lengthy process.  Well, he wasn't kidding.  The bank has all of my information and they still haven't decided to accept my offer.  I was supposed to close on May 15th, but now it's going to be the end of June, so I will have to go month to month.

Thursday, I get to tell the landlord that I will not be renewing and will go month to month.  I wish I could hear something by Thursday, but I'm sure I won't hear anything anytime soon.  Banks these days are slow to act and this one is no different.

I will update as soon as I hear something.

Update on What's happening

Dec 14, 2008

I know it has been a long time since I have updated my profile.  I have been busy with making baby gifts for my friends.  I used to knit when I was a kid, but I never made anything more than a scarf.

I learned how to make baby booties and a baby hat.  I went online and downloaded an easy pattern for a baby sweater.  I will be making my third baby sweater this week.  I have one more friend who is expecting, so I am going to be busy.  I am also working on my cross stitching.  I refuse to let my disease stop me from doing what I enjoy.  I still have pain and will probably will always have pain, so I am stuck taking pain killers.

Work is going well.  The new objectives are out and everyone is trying to play catch-up.  There's never a dull moment at work.

Weight wise, I am 5 lbs below my goal, so all is going well.  My dogs often have trouble keeping me up with me when I go out for walks.

Psoriatic Arthritis bites meds cause headaches

Jul 12, 2008

I want to say that I hate my illness.  I now get headaches that cause me to vomit.  I don't know if the headache is from the medicine I'm taking or if it's from the disease.  I am using up all of my time off, so I cannot take anymore time if I want to take time off in Novemer.

The up side to this disease, if there is one, is that I am 5 lbs away from my goal.  I lost ten pounds last month.  I just don't have an appetite.  All I want is to drink ice cold water.  This is a good thing.  Everyone at work is doing a weightloss competition, but I am not able to do it because I don't have enough to lose.  Imagine that!  I have never had that experience of being not heavy enough to diet.

On the brighter side, I got a new kitten.  She is a real baby.  I never had a kitten this young, so we're learning as we go.  She is 4 months old and we love each other.  She loves sleeping on me in bed.  I have to be careful because she likes to lick my nose.  She is a welcome addition to the household.  The dogs love her.  She is fearless.  I will post a picture of her.

I'm Still in Pain but getting better

Mar 29, 2008

My doctor put me on Humira two weeks ago because the medication I was on didn't do anything to my sed rate.  The psoriatic arthritis is now in my left knee and ankle.  I am trying to stay positive, but when I sit at work in severe pain, it's a challenge.

I joined a list that deals with psoriatic arthritis and it has helped with my questions.  I have problems with mundane tasks such as turning door knobs, attaching leashes on my dogs.  I have been on the Humira for two weeks and am due for my next dose this Wednesday.  I am already seeing a difference in my energy and pain.  I am keeping my hopes up.

I now know why I feel so old

Dec 18, 2007

I found out last week that I have psoriatic arthritis.  Fortunately, I decided to go see a rheumatologist on my own because my PCP wasn't going to admit that they didn't know what was going on.

My rheumatologist looked at my nails and talked to me at length about my symptons, and he wondered why my PCP didn't refer me earlier.  He was surprised that I had to refer myself.  I guess you have to be your own health care advocate because no one is going to do it for you.

Yep, I'm an Idiot

Aug 24, 2007

I am recovering from foot surgery, and was off from work.  To make a long story short, I took Wednesday off when I shouldn't have.  Luckily, my boss waived all the repercussions, but I won't be paid.  I don't mind because I did it.  I am always so hard on myself so I am still kicking myself for being such a jerk.

Oh well, at least I start my new position on Monday, so I will see a raise on my next paycheck.

New job and New Size

Aug 12, 2007

I am now 173.  I go up and down, but I'm watching myself very closely.

On to the great news!  I have been promoted at Liberty Mutual.  My current supervisor told me that the manager of the team I interviewed with was so impressed with me that she decided to open another position.  My supervisor didn't want me to go because I am one of his top performers, but he knows it's time for me to move on to learn something new.

I am so excited.  I also went out and purchased some new clothes at Fashion Bug.  Wouldn't you know that when you need the smaller sizes, they don't have that many of them.  I did manage to pick up a couple of pairs of bermuda shorts and a pair of capris.  I also bought a few shirts in size 14/16.

I am so glad I had this surgery because being thin has given me the opportunity to forget about my size and focus on what I have to offer as a person.  It is such a shame that no one even gave me a chance when I was big.  I guess it is human nature to judge by appearances rather than qualifications.

Doing Great!

Mar 09, 2007

Well, I am down to 175.  Work is going well.  I am going to a new team with a different manager.  I like my current manager, but the new manager is nice.

I was thinking of buying a condo, but with my current financial status, I can afford only something under 110K.  All of the properties in this range are in bad areas, so I am going to wait until next year.

My dogs are doing great.  I can't believe my Dante is 11.  Time flies.  Taz is really a sweet little guy who hates it when I go to work.  He hides under the futon bed when I am trying to leave for work.  When I catch him, he has the saddest expression that it breaks my heart.  I need to find a way to be independently wealthy.

What's New and Notable

Feb 08, 2007

I am at 178, so the total weight loss is 183 lbs.  I am currently on vacation until Monday.  I am looking forward to going back on Monday to get back into the swing of things.

I tried one of those free dating sites and met someone who turned out to be a toad.  I tossed him back and went fishing again.  I have a guy from Tucson that I am talking to via email, so we'll see what happens.

I guess I have come to the conclusion that I will be alone for the rest of my life because I am too set in my ways.  I hate moving, but the place where I am living is getting really annoying.  I have an apartment manager who is not interested in doing her job unless she's threatened.  I made the mistake of complaining about one of my neighbors allowing his 90lb collie run loose.  He made threats towards me and my two dogs, but nothing has been done.

I am now having an apartment inspection.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.  I emailed the manager's boss that I thought it was too fishy that this is the only response I have in regards to my complaint.  Thank God I complained to animal control and they told him that if anything happens to me or my dogs, they will look at him first.  Someone on the board suggested that if anything happens to me or my property that I could hold the apartment manager financially responsible because she did not enforce the lease which states that pets must me on a leash at all times.

Well, I will write more after I hear back from the apartment manager's boss.
