Received my packet from Dr. Jones a couple of days ago and have now received my letters from my PCP, rheumatologist and orthopedist. My PCP has been very supportive about WLS. In 2001 when I approached him about bariatric surgery he was OK with it but not enthusiastic. This time he brought up the subject and suggested that I consider it again since I had tried so many other avenues of losing weight. In fact, he stayed late at the office last night just to type up the letter. The office called this morning at 8:20 a.m. to tell me the letter was ready. So with all my letters, doctor's notes with recorded weights and clinic notes from the doctor supervised weight loss program (OptiFast) I was on for 6 months, I faxed in my info to Anthem BCBS today and now the wait begins.

I had my consultation with Dr. Jones last evening and feel very peaceful about my decision in WLS and about choosing Dr. Jones as my surgeon. I spent a lot of time researching this surgery since 2001. I feel even better about the procedure now than I did in 2001. Lap was just beginning to become a possibility with a few doctors. Now it is the method of choice. I am scheduled for my psy eval with Dr. Stote tonight. Since I am 5 hr round trip, make for a lot of driving in two days but I am ready to do this so let's get going!
