Good Afternoon Amos!!!! What a day it has been.. I have made it into the century club.. down an amazing 104 pounds in just under 7 months post op.. I did have many setbacks and complications and even a revision surgery at 4 months post op.. I am doing fantastic.. my labs are all good and I feel great.. I pray for those of you having surgery soon.. that your surgeries would be complication free, your recoveries quick and your successes many.. I pray for continued successes for all you post ops and for those awaiting approvals .. praying that you get the words you long to hear soon.. Take care everyone.. Hugs,

Hi Gina ~ ~ My prayers are with both you & your sister. Remember you had two major surgeries. You have to try & calm down & take care of yourself even though at times you feel you can't. Congrats on the weight loss. Keep it up. ^j^

Hello Amos, I had to have a scope yesterday to determine why I was constantly nauseated and vomiting.. The GI doctor was able to determine that my stoma was too narrow and he dilated it..so hopefully, all will be well now.. I am now down 96 pounds and will have my 6 week check up with Dr.Waits this coming Thursday.. I hope to get a good report.. Hugs,

Hello Amos, Just a quick note to let all my friends know that I have returned to my home.. and boy does it feel good to be home again.. I am very grateful for a sister who was willing to sacrifice time and physical comforts to take care of me in my first four weeks postop when I was still so very ill.. I am still getting stronger each day.. but am also very weak.. I am going through a major post op depression.. didnt have this problem after my original RNY in Dec. If anyone has any suggestions as how to cope with this type depression.. please let me know.. I am taking 20 mg prozac at my pcp's insistence.. but dont feel that it is doing a thing .. Thanks.. Hugs,

Hello Amos, I am doing much better.. I no longer have any infection according to my last labs.. Praise the Lord!!!! Mother's Day , my nephew and his lovely bride came to visit my sister.. I am currently staying with her while I continue to recuperate from my revision surgery. He made me feel so good.. he told me he could feel my ribs, see my collarbone.. and I looked great.. I went to the pcp's office last Tuesday to get my weekly B12 injection.. I have to make sure that I get B12 right now weekly due to the fact that I have pernicious anemia.. The nurse weighed me.. drumroll please!!!!!!! I have lost an amazing 92 pounds in a short but rough 5 months.. I do want to emphasize to all you pre and post ops.. I had a very serious but also a very , very rare complication to my original surgery.. Yes, staple line disruptions do occur.. but usually as a result of being in a car accident, or some other heavy impact type accident.. Most staple line disruptions dont usually occur within the first 4 months after an original surgery.. I also had bleeding ulcers on my jejunum that spread to my liver.. This is most rare.. Would I have this surgery again.. I would because the 92 pounds gone have made it easier for me to move.. no more knee pain from arthritis.. and my asthma is better controlled.. I wish all you preops.. quick approvals and surgery dates.. and for you post ops.. I pray for quick recoveries.. and much success in your journeys to healthier and thinner bodies.. May God Bless you all.. Hugs, Gina

Hi Amos, I am beginning to feel a bit stronger.. it has been two weeks since my emergency revision and transection. I am still running a low grade fever everyday... and have a great deal of croupy cough going on. I am still feeling rather weak... but I know that this will get better each day to come..I had my two week post op check up on Thursday..boy, was that ever a long day.. I went to the hospital to check on my sister and weight loss friend, Angela Khan... she is doing as well as can be expected.. The surgeon told me that everything seemed to be healing as he expected. He removed all retention sutures and drains.. boy , did that gastrostomy tube ever hurt being removed... but feels much better now that it is out.. I am seeing the internist again on Monday for a repeat CBC to see if my white count has come down any.. or where we go from here.. It seems I have some infection somewhere that we are not able to pinpoint. The surgeon's nurse/ wife told me that at the annual bariatric surgeon's meeting in early June... that my surgeon is planning to use my case as a rare complication and unusual presentation of staple line disruption.. and the outcome of my revision and transection. I know that my weight loss will continue.. I had lost another 12 pounds in my first two weeks at home for a grand total of 81 pounds since my consultation in August and 72 pounds since my original RNY in Dec.. so I am not at all unhappy with the weight loss.. I will try to update again soon.. Hugs,
