As an update on my friend & co-worker Melissa Bekederemo: She died due to complications from the RNY gastric bypass surgery. She had surgery 11/28/03 and died on 12/23/03. Unfortunately she never made it home from the hospital & did not get to enjoy her new life as she had posted on your message boards, and as a post-op RNY patient. Instead she is now enjoying her new life in heaven as an angel looking down upon us all. She was from Tulsa, OK, and was 33 years old with 5 children. She will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to those that loved and knew her. God Bless You Melissa!! Jodie Bean

I am so, so sorry to hear of Melissa's untimely death. Bless her family and friends. I know she was so excited to have this surgery as she and I e-mailed back and forth about insurance issues prior to her surgery. I feel so sad for her family and hope they find comfort knowing she is in a better place. Please know I said a prayer for you today.
