2 Weeks to surgery- liquid diet

Sep 26, 2008

Monday, Sept 22 I started my 2 weeks of high protein liquid diet.
I have been on it5 days now.

Monday was ok, I was hungry but stuck to my program.
Tuesday was terrible- I was nauseus, light headed and disoriented. I did find that this was worst just before meal or snack time.
Wednesday through today, Friday have been fine.
I drink high protein drinks, Slim fast high protein, Unjury Chicken Soup, Health request soup made with milk, low fat yogurt w/ 2T dry milk, water, crystal light and SF popsicles.
So far in 5 days 5 pounds gone!!! I have broken past 280. This morning I weighed 274.9

Observations

Aug 31, 2008

My jeans are getting loose. I was wearing size 26, bought a pair of 24's. They're loose too! I have a stash of smaller sized clothes in the attic. I found a pair of pants, put them on- they fit. Haven't worn them for 4 years, the last time I was down to this weight. Now for the weird thing. The pants, off white are labeled 26!!! Have sized increased over time?  I'm not going to get hung up with the numbers- they didn't fit 39 pounds ago and now they do, that's progress.

So I'm just about 1 month from surgery. I've been not wonderful over the past 2 weeks. The naughty one in my head has been tempting me---because I won't be able to eat sweets after surgery.  Had some desserts I'm not proud to say I ate. I'm supposed to be healthy eating now.  I'm back on track now. I was so happy to see 279, get out of the 280's, and I'm back there again.

I've been trialing some of the liquid protein drinks I have. The High Protein Slim fast and SF Instant breakfast are OK. Still have some Whey protein to trial.

Surgical Date and waiting

Jul 19, 2008

Surgery is scheduled for Oct 6, 2008. I found that out last week when I returned a phone call to the surgeon's office. Now for the waiting game. I have wrapped my mind around the RNY surgery, come to terms with it and want it NOW. But I realize with busy schedules that this is the waiting-learning phase for me.

I purchase a WW scale and have had it about 1 1/2 weeks now. Thanks Terry for the recommendation. I'm very pleased with it. Since my visit with Dr. Toder 1 month ago my scale says I have lost 6 pounds.

I have been eating healthy meals, one portion, no seconds, no junk food, I've been off carbonated drinks since June 17, down to 1-2 cups of coffee and changed what I think snacks are. My snacks are now a small yogurt (60 calories), diet jello or fruit.  Drinking 64 or more oz of water a day. This is a huge change for me, and for the better

I hope that this will be a long lasting change. I hope that I can continue to listen to the healthy, strong inner voice and squash the naughty inner voice that creeps in occasionally.

Anthem Blue Cross approved surgery

Jul 07, 2008

June 25, 2008   I'm so anxious to hear about being approved I phoned Anthem today. It's been 1 week since our visit with the surgeon. Anthem says I am approved! An approval letter will be mailed to me and Dr. Toder!

Surgeon's Consult 6/18/08

Jun 18, 2008

DH and I had our inital consult with Dr. Toder today. We both had our visit at the same time. I'm super happy that since 4/30/08 I've lost 6 pounds.  Our impression of Dr. Toder was favorable and what we expected after reading the comments from other patients. Now for insurance approval and surgery dates.
