Going Bananas
Jul 07, 2009
I had a banana for breakfast. Sounds nice, smooth and creamy, especially when each bite is chewed up in your mouth billions of times. By lunchtime I was sure there would be plenty of room for a tiny slice of broiled chicken and a couple of skinny onion rings. Nope. It would not go down. Wish I knew what was going on down there!!! Now, 2 hours later, I'm eating the rest of my tiny slice of chicken...no problemo...
Side bar: cold onion rings suck...especially without ketchup.

I'm different...

...but my world is the same. For example, this morning one of our detail assistants at work turned 40 so everyone brought in food for the most BEAUTIFUL spread I've ever seen. Cakes, pies, donuts, kolache's, chips, dips, breakfast burritos...
Just as I polished off my tiny (but full) plate, my lunch buddies started talking about hitting the Chinese Buffet at noon. And I'm thinking to myself, "wonder how I'm going to work up an appetite between now and then?" Not to mention work up some room in my pouch.
It's amazing how much my life revolves around food. No wonder I weigh as much as I do. But then I look around me and everyone else is average sized. Heavy sigh.

Lap band regrets?
Jun 24, 2009
I answered this on Q&A so I thought I would post it here.
3 months out next Friday from lapband surgery and it's already worth it in the way I feel with 30 lbs. off my body. I'm not breathing like I just ran a marathon when I get to a meeting at work, I'm already wearing a size smaller, my shoes are more comfortable, and for the first time in my life I have real HOPE that this time I will lose weight. I'm trying not to beat myself up that I didn't do this sooner but just like Nike says...Just Do It!

A rough weekend
Jun 15, 2009
I'm not sure what the deal was but I had a hard time getting anything down. It's been a week since my last fill and everything was going fine till this weekend. I'm pretty sure I didn't eat anything that could have gotten stuck. I've had bronchitis so the doctor said to drink something hot to break up the mucus but then all i got was a pouch full of hot coffee. My other thought was I did seem to be retaining fluid so maybe I was suffering from "swollen stoma". Anyway, things are going down better today...we'll see.

All it takes is time

For all these years I haven't let myself believe that I would ever lose weight and now I can't WAIT!!! Of course there are little victories every day but looking at the results people have after a year makes me wish I could just wake up a year later.

A whole new vocabulary
May 29, 2009
They need a glossary of terms on here. Every day I'm baffled by some new abbreviation or wl (weight loss) lingo. What is dumping? I don't think I've ever done it but it doesn't sound pleasant. And sliders...aren't those little hamburgers you can buy at sport bars? I still think your average person thinks a Lap Band is to somehow cinch your lap. Actually I haven't had a lap in a long time...maybe I should put that as one of my goals...to have a lap again.

I finally set up my profile
May 28, 2009
Hi there, all you big losers. I'm so happy to be here. It's Thursday and that means it's Mexican Food night. I know that shouldn't be what's on my mind, but it is. 53 years of getting excited about that doesn't go away with one little band. I must admit it's been fun figuring out what I can eat and taking home my to-go box.
