Smarties - A Confession
May 31, 2008
Ok, I must confess - i have a new addiction. :-(
Bad Tammy
I'm sure I'm not alone out there. Maybe you are like me. While I still make sure I get in my protien, I have developed a craving for something I know I shouldn't. Someone gave me one of those little rolls of circle candies wrapped in a little roll called Smarties. Remember these?
I have been having 4-6 a day for the past week. The good news is, they are only 25 calories per roll, bad news is, it has no value what so ever in my diet.
Overall I have been good, and I'm still losing 1-2lbs a week. But I know these suckers are no good for me.
Plus lately I have been feeling the snacking bug. I try and stick to 100 calorie packs if I cave in. I'm pretty sure on my bad days i'm still sticking to no more than 1000 calories. But I do know that I must regain my control on this piece. It hasn't helped that i've been on vacation this week.
Monday is a new day - back to being a good girl again. :-D
thanks for listening.

Old Clothes
May 11, 2008
If you are like me, you kept saving your old clothes as you grew out of them. My partner would ask why i never threw anything away and kept "hogging" the closet with stuff I'd never wear again. I kept saying I would.
Now i'm thinning out that closet like crazy. Having great ah ha moments of wearing something i haven't in 8-10 years. Problem now is realizing that it is out of style or i missed the window to wear it since now it is too big. LOL.
I just think of it now as clothes that help me transition to my smaller self. I don't have to buy anything in the mid term.
I hope everyone else is enjoying the same fun of cleaning out thier closets as I have.

8 month update
Apr 07, 2008
Well, haven't blogged lately. Things are going well. Losing about 1-2 lbs a month. Would like to lose more but i'm hoping some is muscle. I really wasn't working out the first 6 months but now I am. I've been on my treadmill every day. sit ups, and some weights. So inches are coming off.
I don't regret having the surgery even though I do miss some of my old foods. :-) But I'll take a smaller me over the bigger me anyday.
Here is my tracking info since I know all us lurkers like to compare either our results or what we might get in the future.

6 month update (from my posting to Aug forum)
Feb 24, 2008
Well, I should have posted back on Aug 17th, but better late than never. :-)
So far everything has gone well. Besides a few episodes early on with throwing up, things have been good. I've learned how to chew right and listen to my internal feelings. Good and bad news, I don't really dump from sweets, but that means I have to be that more consciencious about not trying them. I did great for the first 6 months. This past week however, I was a bad girl and tried my favorite thing. Ice cream. Oh no. Didn't make me sick, just tasted goooood. Too good. LOL. At least I didn't eat a big ole bowl like in the past, but still didn't need it. Back on track for the new week. I had my one bad girl week.
I have lost 107lb which is great. Exercise has been so so. Really derailed when I hurt my knee. But every little bit will help. I know I will not lose another 100 in the next 6 months, but I do want to lose at least another 50lbs. Hopefully more, but I will be very happy if 50. Who wouldn't love to lose 150lbs in 1 year? :o)
As far as wow moments, there have been lots of little ones. My favorite is seeing how far my steering wheel keeps getting away from my stomach. I use to touch now my fist and a little more is there. I find it isn't the big things that bring me as much joy as it is the little things I see, feel, or find I can do again. Yes, the compliments are nice, but just having my life back and not feeling restricted is priceless.
As for going forward, the journey continues to challenge. As the surgery date gets further out, the more I have to remember that this is a tool and I have the power to either use my tool or find away around it. It is something that I for one, plan on using to continue my journey towards a much healthier, active life.
I wish everyone the best on their journey and if you haven't had a chance to share yet, please do. We owe it to each other to help motivate in those tough times, and we owe it to the new folks that are just starting their journey, just like we looked to others when we began ours.
:-D
Bad Girl
Feb 24, 2008
I know I do not check in as often as I should. Just seem so busy lately. However, I do know that people need us to check in to keep track of our progress so they can see either what to expect or if they are in the same boat.
While I'm proud of the 107lb loss in 6 months, i know I have had a bad week. I did such a fantastic job with no sweets, especially with my favorite - ICE CREAM. Yumm. Well, my nephew who lives with us, now works at Baskin Robbins and the little bugger brought home some. Unfortunately, the tempation was strong and I was weak. While I didn't do the bowls of old, I did have a couple of the small ones.
Now that I've hit my 6 months, and I've had my bad girl week, it is time to get back in check. Especially on the exercise program. I was doing ok and then I hurt my knee and couldn't do anything. But time to get back on track. So today, I'm back to being the good girl I was. :-)
Remember everyone, we don't have to be perfect, but we do need to recognize when we are off track and find our way back. Life will have plenty of challenges. It isn't the challenge but how we deal and react to the challenges in our life.
100lbs Gone
Feb 01, 2008
Yahooooo
I finally crossed the 100lb mark.
Too bad I hurt my knee, I can't jump up and down to celebrate. LOL
Almost to 100
Jan 28, 2008
Oh so close. I was hoping to hit 100lb loss this week. Only hit the 99. Oh well, cuz 99 is still awesome! :-)
Hopefully next week i'll hit that magic number. As long as I don't hit another stall. Seem to hit one every other week. But no biggie. I'm healthier and that is what counts.
Plus, a cool thing, I was looking for something in a spare bedroom and noticed my old jackets hanging up. Saw my favorite jacket of all time and wondered, what the heck. What do you know. IT FIT! Yahooooo. Rarely get to wear a jacket in AZ. But hey, I was smiling. :-)
Finally, a big loss... :-)

What a difference a week makes. After weeks of 1-2 lbs, i had a good one last week. Yahoo.....
Didn't really do anything differently but I have had a cold all week. Maybe it kicked my metabolism in gear. :-)
