I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT JOHN, MAY GOD BE WITH YOU INYOU TIME OF SORROW.

dtpgoose 22 years, 10 months ago

Dear Friends, Johnny Costlow passed away earlier this evening. It was very unexpected as his condition seemed greatly improved over the last couple of weeks. Right now it appears he had a heart attack. Most of you know that his heart was weak prior to surgery. There is no easy way to deliver news such as this. We can all take comfort in the fact that Johnny's wife and their boys, were with Johnny up until moments before his death and he took great pleasure in being with them. My wife and I had visited Johnny only a few hours before he passed away and he was happy and saying he'd had a very good day. This is not only a devastating blow to Johnny's family but to our local support group as well. In wondering how to break this news to so many people I was reminded that someone once told me "the best way to face things is straight on". We are a strong "family". We are so fortunate to have one another. Johnny has stated numerous times since his surgery that in spite of all the complications he had no regrets. While this outcome isn't what we expected, I know in my heart that Johnny wouldn't want his death to discourage others from striving for their dreams. Please remember his family in your prayers. We will be sending flowers from the group. If you would like to contribute - please privately email me ([email protected]). Services are tentatively scheduled for Sunday. Again, please remember his family in your prayers. Johnny and Mary were married for 20 years. They have two sons, ages 7 and 9. They need our support now more than ever. May God shower them with peace at this time. Sincerely, Wes

Hi everyone, I just wanted to update you all on how Johnny is doing, as many of you know he has had a rough time with some complications and with his heart. On Tuesday when I went to the hospital to visit him he was standing at the end of the bed with the physical therapist looking on. He was totally on his own. WOW what a good site, he stood about 3 ½ minutes. Thats a milestone within itself. Today when I went to visit he had just walked about 70 feet! WOW another huge milestone! Way to go Johnny! GOD certainly has been answering our prayers and I know Johnny appreciates each and every prayer you all have prayed on his behalf. We will continue to pray for his speedy recovery so he can get back to daily life and enjoy the benefits of the WLS, speaking of which, Robin also visted him today and noted to Johnny how his face is looking slimmer already. Thanks for your contiuned prayers and thoughts. Wes

Johnny, I have been following your progress & am glad to hear that you are doing better. You are an inspiration and a fighter to us all. I had Dr. Stahl for my surgery & I was very pleased. You are in good hands. Keep getting better & my thoughts are with you and your family. You have a great life to look forward to, and better health to come. Hang in there, it's not so far away now. Best wishes!

Hello everyone, Several people have e-mailed me asking how Johnny was so I wanted to post an update to let you guys know. Here goes, When I visited Johnny on Monday he looked better and said he felt better too. He is actually getting to eat a little "real food" as of Monday at lunch. I was in his room when they brought his tray and his wife got it ready and gave him a bite and he was smiling and saying "Mmmmm" like it was a world class filet Mignon steak! LOL He still has a long road in front of him but we have certainly seen that he is a strong man and is a hard fighter. The doctors are working to get his heart beat in the right rythmn again. Last night Robin and Kim from the local support group as well as my wife and myself visted with Johnny for a few minutes after our workout and he was smiling and talking about how it was good to get to eat although he didn't care for the food like he had in the past. He looked good, but tierd, he had alot of visitors yesterday. Please continue to keep Johnny and his family in your prayers. He told me the other night that he was sure that prayer was helping him and that prayer does work. I went to visit Johnny today (Tues) and he was napping so I didn't wake him. His nurse said he was doing OK but no details. I will get back up to see him tomorrow and try to update then. Thanks again for your prayers, thoughts and post. I know they are very much appreciated. God Bless Us all,
