Hi all,
I am 43, married w/ 2 kids (11, 8) and have been in So. Cal. my whole life!... grew up in Hollywood as a matter of fact...
My journey towards WLS started 1 year ago. I saw my PCP and we agreeded this was my best option for weight loss. I had to change ins. co.s because MPIHP does not cover WLS. My new PCP said the same as the old PCP so we sent in for a consult referral... which was denied because co-morbids are not serious enough. After an appeal letter, I was given an authorization for a consult w/ the WLS dr. My appt is on Wed. 11/15. I'll blog again later on the 15th...
O.k. I am back from my very disappointing consult. The surgeon said ins. will not cover me for WLS because I don't meet guidlines. My BMI is not over 40 and I don't have life threatening co-morbs. My only option is to pay O.O.P. LOL! I will check that out because I can't just give up now.
