Mara as I read the boards each day and post, I came across your surgery page (you know I am always interested in others successes) talking about people blaming the whole cockroach thing on Cuban's. Not nice...perhaps not, but there are cockroaches all over the world. I spoke with a very dear friend of mine today who happens to be Cuban and pretty much uses the phrase Cuban cockroaches all the time. He does not see it as inflammatory to his culture. He, himself, along with his family fled the regime of Castro to America. The family was poorer than poor, but did that stop him? NO! Today he is a successful lawyer. He is proud of who he is and would never for one moment ever be offended by Cuban and cockroach being put together. Pretty much like Japanese and beetle being put together. I don't hear Japanese American's screaming about the two words being associated nor do I hear any African Americans protesting having the Africian killer bee associated. I don't honestly think the posts were meant to offend anyone. It was silly humor, but once again, I can see that as usual, you have taken this out of context and ran with it. So when you point the finger using the word "vermin" remember there are 3 fingers pointing back at you.
