Hi Duchess~~I was stumped for a while also, but I think I might have figured it out. I could be wrong, but I think it stands for "Association for Morbid Obese Support" firt letters "AMOS". Hope this is correct and solves the mystery. It really did take me a while.Hope you are doing well.Congratulations on your approval. I also have recently been approved, and will get my surgery date Wednesday.

Dear Duch...........I have diabetes type II. I couldn't get my blood sugar levels down. My fast was 280-310. It really stunk on ice so I started researching diabetes on the internet. The best way to control it, according to all the sources, was to lose weight. Fine, I can't seem to lose much if any at all but I started researching the best way to lose weight statistically which lead me to this site. I was scared of dying in my early 60's after having a foot or two chopped off. I told my doctor that I was afraid that was my future. He agreed and said that was very likely. YIKES!!! Anyway, I decided on RNY surgery. I am 3 weeks out now and my fasting blood sugar level started going down 156......153......136...and was 114 yesterday. This is with NO medications. Right after surgery, I had to stop taking my insulin and glucophage for fear of bottoming out. If you are looking for a way to control your diabetes then I highly recommend weight loss surgery. Take care :)

hey Duchess- best wishes and extra prayers for smooth surgery and recovery. You'll do great! My co=morbidities included high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. I haven't had to take medication for either since surgery 7/1! My BP hangs around 122/70, and my bood sugars range from 80-120- how normal is that!!? I couldn't get below 123 before with meds, exercise and diet. WLS: the surgical cure for diabetes! And no more knowing that amputations, blindness and kidney failure are 20 years down the road!

Dear Duchess, I to had Type II Diabeties before my surgery, I was taking 3 different RX'S for it 2 times each day. I stopped all RX's the day before my surgery and I have not had to take any RX's since surgery. My blood sugar stays down around 100 now. I feel so lucky I was able to have this life saving surgery. I'm 3 months out now and have lost 60lbs. I'm sure you will have great success with your surgery. I wish you Good Luck and a Speedy Uneventful Recovery. Take Care (Lynne)
