Well tonight is my 6th diet meeting with Kaiser. Then on Thursday I see the Kaiser surgeon for my referral. I have learned a lot these last 8 months. I want to be one of the post-op people that have lost 100# plus.
The dietician asked me to try to lose 30# by my surgery last April, so I have tried and am down 22#. I feel better and thank goodness last week when we went on vacation, the airplane seatbelts fit me. One time a couple of years ago I had such a short belt, I had to get an extension, so embarrassing!
I still have not decided on surgery. It is very scary. Since I take care of my 89 year old mother part-time, if I do have it, I am thinking Jan will be best as I don't have her again until May. I want to feel better, live longer and look better but those 1st 2-3 months post-op scare me.
I also have horrible hot flashes and am on all kinds of natural hormones and I wont be able to have them all after surgery. I take it a day at a time and think about it a lot. I found out last month at the diet meeting that Kaiser is now starting to do lap surgery which I would like, but my primary MD said they do not like to the laps on people who have had previous abdominal surgery and I have had 2. :-( I guess scar tissue can cause problems.
