Just waiting....

Mar 27, 2007

Not much going on these days.  All my pre-op testing is done.  I'm just waiting until April 9th for the last of my 3 month supervised weight management check-ups.  Then my paperwork to be sent in to the insurance company for approval.  Dr. Willaims' office is thinking sometime in June for my surgery.  I was hoping it would be sooner but I'm going to Aruba at the end of May so if surgery is planned shortly after I come back, that'll be great!

In the meantime, I have to step up my exercise routine.  Borrowing the words of one of my online buddies, I have to get to working on being the "Queen Shit" LOL.....

Until the next time,

To tell or not to tell?

Mar 15, 2007

3-15-07

As things move along, I'm struggling with whether or not to tell folks in the office about my WLS.   It's none of their business for one, but I know a lot of questions will arise about my time away from the office and my weight loss.

Looking forward to hearing about how you all handled the situation.

To tell or not to tell?

Testing Complete...

Mar 15, 2007

As of yesterday, I've completed all the necessary pre-op testing.  I have 2 more weigh-ins before my paperwork can be submitted to Aetna for approval.  I'm thinking the paperwork will be submitted some time in April so maybe my surgery can be planned for May or June.  We'll see.

In the meantime, I'm working on increasing my physical activity and changing my eating habits.

Hi All,
I've completed all my tests with the exception of the Psych Eval.  That's scheduled for next week, March 14th.  To prepare for the evaluation, I need to complete this booklet of questions they gave me.  My goodness!

I'll keep you all posted.

Sleep Study Completed.....

Feb 28, 2007

2-28-08

Hi All,
Well I've completed the sleep study last night.  The sleep lab was very nice, clean (even had cable TV w/HBO) and the staff was very pleasant.  Check in was at 7:30pm, I filled out some paperwork, had my dinner and around 10pm, the process began.  I don't know how anyone could sleep with all those freaking connectors on.  I looked like an alien!  Anyway, with 6 connectors on my face, 4 on my head, 2 on my chest and 2 on each leg, I did manage to fall asleep around 11pm.   A little after 3am I awoke and couldn't fall back asleep.  The tech came in asking me to give it an hour or so and if I didn't find myself getting sleepy, she'd end the test.  An hour later, I was being disconnected and sent home.

The "unofficial" results of the study indicate that I do not have sleep apnea and will not need to return for another appointment.  Yippee!!!

So in all the appointment itself wasn't too bad.  I just hope the "official" reading of the study offers the same results.

Now onto the pulmonary functions test and EKG on Tuesday.  The Psych eval is scheduled for March 14th and that will complete the testing phase.  So far no bumps in the road.....I'll keep you all posted.
Until then,

Please read ALL the paperwork in the information packet...

Feb 22, 2007

2-22-07

Hello All,
While reading some of the paperwork in the packets of information given to me at my consultation, I found out that any fill after my 90 post op visit will run me $150.

I'm a little surprised by this, I thought I asked about follow-up but now I don't remember.  I guess it's like playing a yearly gym membership.

Hopefully I won't require many fills.....

Wish me luck,
~A-New-Me

I'm waiting for the referral for the sleep study and PF test and I'm done.  So far the process has run pretty smoothly.

Hello All,
Just quickly wanted to let you know that I made it to my consulation appointment despite the snow.

I have my scripts for testing and I've also begun my 3 month supervised weight management program.

From what I learned yesterday, I think not eating and drinking at the same time will be the most difficult adjustment for me.
Wish me luck,

Don't let it snow, don't let it snow, don't let it snow

Don't let it snow, don't let it snow, don't let it snow at least until I make it to and from my consultation appointment with Dr. Williams.

I'm hoping to walk out of there with a plan for my 3 month supervised diet and all the prescriptions that I need for testing.

Wish me luck!
