Hello Angela - Susan posted that your special day is coming up fast. I wanted to be one of many to say <b>Congratulations</b> on your upcoming surgery!   You'll find the changes that follow, nothing short of a miracle. My humble advice?  Walk as much as possible after surgery.  As your body begins to heal make sure to get in your protein, even if it means plugging your nose and chugging back the protein drinks in baby [pouch] gulps.  Vitamins need to be chopped, minced or crushed... whatever it takes to get them in daily, no exceptions, YOU are worth it.   Also, let's not forget your new best(est) friend, water.  It is SO important to get your minimum 64 oz in daily. One final thing, remember to <b>CELEBRATE</b> all the special moments along the way, big or small.  Too many people focus only on the <i>number</i>, ie. pounds lost.  There are so many "moments" to look forward to and embrace, don't let any of them slip by.   Enjoy your new healthier life, you've more then earned it!!   <i>"The key to happiness is dreams, the key to success is making those dreams come true"</i>  Hugs and smiles -

Thanks to all you wonderful people who have already posted to my surgery page, and a special ((hug)) to Susan Maddy for her fantastic support. I have just a week to prepare for this as a cancellation came up and the doc's office called me twice to see if I wanted to take it. My first instinct was no, it's too soon(my original date was Sept 17 for an OPEN rny) and it's for a LAP. But after the second phone call and much soul searching, I took the Friday 8/29 date and have made peace with it. My husband had Open rny in March and is doing so great, down 135 pounds(men!!)with 100 to go, so he will be such a good care giver. My good AMOS friend Susan Maddy is my sounding board for LAP questions. It didn't feel quite real to me until I decided to shop some clearance racks for smaller clothes for next summer. I bought just 2 pairs of shorts, and I have no idea if they will be the right size, but it made it "real" to me and gave me such a boost. I was grinning ear to ear while shopping in the "regular" size racks. One bummer about a short wait time---no time for my "lasts". I should be on my doc's low carb protein pre-surgery diet, and I have been doing pretty good since Saturday(had to have that last messy cheeseburger and fries with lots of ketchup on Friday). But maybe just one teenie tiny hot fudge sundae tonight? Ang I will definitly chug my last caffeine free diet coke on Wednesday. Can't wait to be a "loser"!
