Got cleared for surgery

Now the insurance waiting game begins

Hi and good morning. I have been approved, but my primary care physician's office takes so long to do anything, I don't even think they've completed the form my surgeon's office sent to them. It was sent on 12/10 and when I went to my monthly surgeon's meeting on 1/9 they hadn't received it back. The secretary gave me the letter and I faxed it to them again. Need to call them on Monday to see what the hold-up is. Then it will be on to waiting for the insurance companies approval.

If I were you, I would visit your PCP to get the letter.  That's what I had to do.  I couldn't wait on them to just sent it, I had to keep calling and then I went to the office and picked it up.  It shouldn't take them this long to complete the form. Good luck!

I agree with Pharmagirl.  The day after my seminar, I scheduled an appointment with my PCP.  When asked for a reason for the appointment I just said I wanted to discuss weight loss.  I love my PCP and actually really wanted to talk to her about it.  She had mentioned surgery several years ago.  My program included the PCP approval form in the seminar packet.  I filled out the parts I could to make it easier for her and then took it with me and had her complete it during my appointment.  Stay on top of them!  You are your best advocate and deserve the best customer service!!  :-)
