I 'researched' WLS for 10 years... I couldn't see myself doing it. My niece had it 10 years ago and kept 125lbs off. I was speaking with her last Easter and asking her if she was still glad she had it done. Her response? "Absolutely!" She asked me "What are you afraid of???" I didn't really know. She said "You are thinking too hard, get out of your head" She was right, I was thinking so hard about it I had immobilized myself. I realize I will always be a person who has to watch what I eat...yup- diet and exercise.... but at least I will be doing it from a smaller place without all the medical problems. SO glad I moved forward and had RNY. The reason your insurance will only pay for RNY is because it is the 'gold standard'... as they say. Find yourself a good surgeon....

I'm sure that somewhere there are people that regret their decision but I've yet to meet one. Me? I had RNY on December 16th. I'm down 80 lbs. Granted, I had a lot to lose, but just today I posted that my bras no longer need an extender. My pants are falling off of me.

Yeah I've had some issues. Today I was nauseated a bit and felt like throwing up. I've had some dizzy spells. And I was terrified of RNY (I wanted VSG, desperately). Now, I can run up a flight of stairs. I don't hurt. Have you ever limped when getting out of bed because your feet hurt SO BAD? My computer chair feels too big for me! My stomach no longer presses against my steering wheel. I can count literally 100 good things to the occasional waves of nausea.

Try posting your typical menu, track everything, use my fitness pal, and be honest with every bite. I found that I stalled out for a few weeks and adding more fat made the scale move again. I was too low carb, low calorie AND low fat... play with your meals a bit maybe. Regardless, 123lbs lost is not something *I* personally would regret. Good luck.

You really regret it, when you're down over 100 lbs, just because you haven't lost the last 50?!
