Forks and spoons?
Good Morning Everyone,
At my last nut appt she said that I should start eating
with small (baby size) forks and spoons to prepare for post-op. What size do you use? I know there are 2 different sizes of baby spoons. She also said I should get a few paper plates, dessert size, to get accustomed to what size my meals will be like. If that size is like a cup saucer, I'll just get those.
Any info would help...
Thanks,
Alice

Hi Alice,
I have a whole bunch of the small baby spoons and shrimp ****tail forks for eating. It still takes a concentrated effort to eat slowly, but those tiny utensiles make the bites smaller.
This is JUST my own personal opinion about the plates. To make my meals feel better, I hauled out some crystal and fancy china for my meals. None of the paper stuff, just "special" for me. Eating SF Jello with a dainty spoon, in a crystal goblet feels elegant. Still tastes like Jello but looks pretty.

Hi Alice, Great question! I'm sure we're all a little different & that's o.k. by me. I used the tiny, tiny baby spoons, not the toddler ones. I still use them often as it helps to keep me from shoveling in the food. In the beginning, I used plastic containers (I bought them from Smart & Final) with lids in a very small size (like the kind restaurants use for salad dressing on the side). It was convenient to prepare food & divide it up in the containers for the next few days. I still use them occasionally & also use the smallest pirex dish (holds about 4 oz liquid) for food. I I need to keep my containers small - if you give me a salad plate, I could put enough food on it to satisfy Michael Phelps! Unlike others, I used straws right from the getgo, but please follow your own Doctor's advise about that.
Alice, I have Corel plates and one of the sizes is like a bread plate. I use that but it definely isn't full. I had problems in the beginning going out and having to use regular size plates. I lose all concept of how much food I am putting on them. I use the baby spoons once in a while. Some are tiny tiny and some are a bit bigger. I use regular spoons and I am finding that a bad thing. I need to go back to the baby size. I need to get the small forks too. I need to buy enough of them I can carry some in my purse for those just in case moments.
