Question:
What protein shakes do you use that taste good?

One of the best protein shakes I've used (I drink one every day for breakfast)is Revival Soy Shakes which come in at least four, (maybe more) flavors and have 20grams of soy whey protein. Good stuff. The initial package includes a recipe book which provides many ideas of how to "spice" up the shakes with fruits and other allowed treats. In fact, Revival Soy makes the soy protein bars, pasta, coffee, and other snacks (the pasta chips and chocolate covered soynuts are great!). All their products may be ordered online at www.soy.com. Hope this helps.

I use EAS Myoplex with the light silver front. They have 20 grams of protein, and only 2 carbs, and come in Strawberry Cream, Strawberry Banana, French Vanilla, Vanilla Cream, Dark Chocolate and Dark Fudge Chocolate. I do not like the chocolate, they are to sweet, and make sure you check the label, the ones with the dark silver front have alot of sugar. I get them at Hi-Health, Walmart, or any drug store and they run anywhere from $5 to $7 dollars for 4 11oz containers, what I like about them is the taste, but you do not have to drink the whole thing, you can drink some and put it back into the freg, and reshake the container when you want more.

The best I have ever tasted is Unjury chocolate. I could not stand any till I found this one. You can get it at www.unjury.com, they have it in chocolate, vanilla and unflavored. The chocolate tastes just like chocolate milk! I have to keep my kids from drinking it. One scoop mixed with 6 ounces of skim milk gives you 26 grams of protein. If you email Jerome you can get samples, his email address is on the Unjury site. Good luck!!!

Pro Performance 100% Whey has an UNFLAVORED variety, so it is barely there - it just tastes like the milk I put it in.

Carb Solutions powder that you mix with water in a blender. I use 12 oz. of water vs. the suggested 8 oz. because it seems too thick, thinner seems like a Yoo-Hoo chocolate drink.3 net carbs, 20 gr. of protein and only 1 gr. of sugar. Has to be cold, so I use ice cubes/chips.

Proscore 100 chocolate flavor and Nectar Kiwi-Strawberry flavor are my 2 favorites. Thye do contain aspartame and I usually dont like anything with that in it, but these taste really good. I have tried at least 25 different samples from www.vitalady.com(she has tons of samples) and those 2 are the best. The Proscore is like a light malty chocolate, thin smooth texture with no aftertaste. The Nectar is thin and fruity wiht a sweet and sour flavor. I just added cold water and ice to both and shook them up. I havent tried them in a blender yet but theyd probally be good. Make sure the protein you get is 100% pre digested whey, that is the easiest kind of protein for post-ops to digest.

I have tried so many and do not like the already mixed ones. I do like the one I make, I use 2% milk, SF nestle quick powder and Met RX Vanilla Bean flavored powder and it tastes like chocolate milk. I now just stick to the bars. Good luck!

My favorite is GNC Pro-95 Soy Protein. It contains fructalose or sucralose (not sure which one), but that makes it a little sweeter and a lot more tolerable than other ones I have tried. I blend it with water, a few ice cubes and a banana or frozen strawberries. It has 25 gms of protein per scoop. My kids love it, too.

I swear by my Real Meals. It tastes pretty good and is easy to mix and is a smaller shake. I can get 30 grams of very high quality whey protein in just 6 ounces of liquid.

I use Isopure no carb protein drink. I get it at Vitamin Shoppe. It's pre-made, comes in many flavors , it's more like a kool ade than a milk shake. I can't tolerate the milky ones. I drink one 20 oz bottle a day ( half in the morning then half at night) It gives me 40 grams of protein. RNY Lap 5/15/03 down 83lbs. ( Finally broke 200):-)

I have tasted quite a few of the protein drinks out there and for me, have found ProBlend 55 to be the best tasting. It offers 27g of protein in one scoop, mixed with just 4oz of cold water and comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and mocha. It's on the sweet side, but mixes really well and tastes good... a lot like Nestles chocolate or strawberry powder. Go to www.vitalady.com where you can actually order samples of various brands and see which one you like best, without having to incur the expense of buying the whole tub. Bon appetit!

I couldnt find one for a long time. They were all too sweet, had too many calories and too expensive. I now use Isopure low carb - dutch chocolate. It has 50g of protein and 210 cals a serving and is not too sweet at all. It's expensive at GNC $50 for 21 servings, but you can get it on line for just over $30 including shipping. ezpricematch.com will beat other website prices by 5%. So go there, enter url supplementhq.com (their price is $24.99), and ezpricematch knocks off 5% and charges $6.95 shipping (I didnt pay sales tax), for a total of $30.70. This works out to $1.47 per day versus GNC @ $2.38. Hope this helps.

I have tried so many different protein supplements and none of them have been great. Some were tolerable, but even those were more torture than anything to drink. Someone recently told me about one that I just had to try. They said it tasted like a mix between a chocolate milkshake and a glass of Nestle's Quik. It' Optimum Nutrition (ON) 100% Whey Protein in the Double Chocolate flavor. I actually look forward to drinking it! I did find that I have to put one scoop in 6 oz. of skim milk rather than water, though. I tried the Strawberry and it was yucky. The guy at GNC said the vanilla was really good too.
One thing I can't stress enough when it comes to protein shakes......DON'T JUST TRY AND MIX THEM WITH A SPOON! You'll still end up with something that isn't quite as smooth. No need to dirty a Thunder Stick or blender either. At GNC when I bought my ON, the man said to get one of those shakers. It was only $4.99. The ON was a big cannister for $19.99 and is 31 servings. If you have the GNC card and buy it the first 7 days of the month you'll get 20% off and only have to pay $14.99 for the protein supplement and $3.99 for the shaker. In the morning, I pour my milk (it has a measurements on the shaker), add my scoop of protein, snap on the lid, and shake it up. It's really pretty good! I've been thinking about putting a spoonful of peanut butter in it to see how it tastes. I bet the vanilla with some peanut butter would be good.
And as always, the good thing about getting things from GNC is that if you open it, try it, and just don't like the taste (or whatever), just keep your receipt and they'll give you a refund or exchange, whichever you want. I did this with the Strawberry....tried it twice, found it yucky and took it back and exchanged it for the chocolate. Good luck to you!

I used 4 different shakes and love them all; some even mixed together. All of the shakes I use can be shaken up. I have a cup with a flip top spout and I shake all my drinks up in those. No need for fancy $5 shaker cups, etc. I also make all my shakes with water and flavorings only. I don't want the added sugar content of milk. I currently drink Champion Pure Whey Stack chocolate (like Nestles Quik), LaBrada Proplete Vanilla Pineapple, Syntrax Nectar Very Berry Cherry & Nectar Strawberry Kiwi (tastes like a strawberry flavored hard candy). I mix the choc and very berry cherry for a chocolate covered cherry drink. I make the vanilla pineapple with a mix of SF Tang and peach flavored water for a fruity drink each morning. I make lots of chocolate variety using SF syrups such as Amaretto, Creme De Mint, German Choc Cake, and Red Hot Cinnamon. I use non-dairy creamer to add some creamy-ness as well. The only thing I ever add to the Strawberry is heavy cream or creamer once in a while for a great Strawberries & Cream flavor. I like variety and so I keep trying new products and samples and adding to my "collection". I don't ever get bored and I love my protein drinks!

If mixing my own, I use proscore 100 chocolate or Trader Joes chocolate, and for vanilla, Isopure zero carb. Pre-mixed, I tolerate the EAS brand. If your pre-op don't bother testing them as post-op tastes change drastically. If post-op try vitalady.com to order samples -much better than buying a cannister first.

A resounding thumbs up for Champion ProScore 100 chocolate powder. It's awesome! It's my morning routine/ritual. I do blend it with about four ice cubes, though, for a good shake-like consistency.

My favorite is Unjury, advertised on this web site. It can be ordered at their website; www.unjury.com. It mixes so fine: no clumps, no chalky flavor, no grit. It comes in vanilla, chocolate, and unflavored. Good stuff!
