Question:
I'm wondering if there are any African Americans that have had

plastic surgery after having WLS? If you did, how did the surgery go and are you happy with the results? If you prefer, you can email me. Thanks for your input!    — yourdivaness (posted on May 15, 2003)

I'm looking into it but I do know of several on the OSSG-Black list that have had it. Go to yahoogroups.com and type in OSSG-Black to get on the list and ask. Good luck and God Bless!

Hi everyone! Thanks for responding to my question. Heather, I was basically concerned about keloids. I know for the most part, African Americans keloid moreso (is it politically correct for me to write "moreso" like that)?that other ethnic groups. Some of the keloids I've seen have not been very pleasant. So you have keloids that are purple? Hmmm, now that's something I didn't know.

Hi Diva, I am African American and I had gastric bypass 3/02. I was 350 and i am down 97 pounds. I was just approved for Abdominoplasty and breast reduction. My surgery is Jul 3rd. My back hurts so much, exercise is difficult now and I think that is what has slowed my weight loss. I have a 10 inch scar that is black, but it was worth the discoloration. that is all the scarring I have, no keloids and I was back to work in 2 1/2 weeks and feeling wonderful....Good Luck
