Question:
I am 5 days post op and have much gas and loose stools throughout the day.

Is it normal for me to have this? My stomach also feels bubbly and is quite noisy. Has anyone else had this problem right after surgery?    — Marina M. (posted on July 26, 2002)

I am 2 1/2 weeks post-op. On about day 4-5 I had diarrhea and runny stools also but they did stop after a few days. Also my stomach bubbled and grumbled alot to in the beginning and has since calmed down. Good luck, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I think it is very normal. The worst of the gas was over in about a week, and my loose stools stopped after about two weeks.

I can assure you that it is perfectly normal. My loose BM's didn't stop until about two weeks. I would also burp up foamy stuff which was simply saliva. Your new plumbing is in the process of healing, and it is going to sound and feel weird for a few weeks. It will pass though. Hang in there.

WE all gurgle at first, but you might try eliminating foods/drinks one by one & test. Start with milk, as so we often become lactose intolerant. Go about 3 days without & see if that clears up. To test, try it again. Then start thru any other things you are eating daily.

Hi! I was supposed to have surgery on Monday July 22nd. I drank the bowel prep on sunday and surgery was cancelled on monday. I had diarhea(sp) and bad gas all week so I am sure the bowel prep PLUS surgery will make it even worse. Hang in there. It should pass(pardon the pun:)
