Question:
Why am I dizzy at 6 months post op?

I am 6 months post op and got extrememely dizzy yesterday at work. I mean to the point of holding on to my chair to keep me in it. I have never had this happen before. My DH thinks maybe I am losing weight too quick after this long as I have lost 5 pounds this week. It took me a hour to recover and then all day, I was exhausted. Any ideas??    — Debra L. Debra, Have you family doctor do an anemia test. Anemia can happen after surgery and the test is quick and simple by taking a small amount of blood. Are you taking Iron supplements? Let me know.

It sounds like dehydration. Have you been getting your 64 oz. of water in? I read (on this board) that when you are dehydrated, your body robs water from your ear canal...which affects your balance and can make you very dizzy.

My doctor attributes my dizzy spells to my low blood pressure (normally around 100 / 60). He encourages me to drink more than the 64 ozs. a day to keep my fluid and blood volume up, and not to move suddenly. -Kate-

Could be so many things, dehydration, blood pressure, vertigo etc... definitely get in and get checked w/ your Dr. Get tested for anemia, check your fluid intake, get your Blood Pressure checked, see if you have any inner ear problems and see if your protein and vitamin levels are good.

I too had this problem and found it was all due to not enough fluids. If I eat the wrong things and have direahha (?), I will get dizzy. I drink gator aid and it usually subsides. Good luck. Jill -120

Could you be pregnant?

When my potassium is very low I get "lightheaded" but not dizzy. Perhaps have your potassium checked just to be sure.
