You need to discuss with your primary doctor and your surgeon but assuming this is being done LAP and it's just a local I would think it would be better before, rather than after you are starting to feel better and then get set back for a little while. Ask your doctor if it can be done at the same time as your WLS? If you are having an open it might be able to be done then.

Hi, When I had my surgery at the end of July 02 I was going to have my tubes tied at the same time. Talk to your surgeon they may be willing to do it at the same time. I emailed with others on the site who also did the same thing. I didn't end up doing it. I decided against it at the end because I really was not 100% sure I wanted the perma-solution to birth control at the age of 33 with one child and a really happy marriage. Good Luck Penny Lap RNY 7/31/02 -65

I had a lap rny AND ovary removal last year. The wls was first and then a gyn came in and did the ovaries - all lap - no extra "holes" for the ovaries. Saved money also as one op room etc.
