Question:
Has anyone had stricture symptoms that went away on their own?

All day yesterday I was vomitting (mostly foam and mucous) everytime I ate or drank anything. I also vomitting one time this morning. I called my Dr and he want's me to have an endoscopy tomorrow and I am fine with that. However, I have felt 100% better today and have been able to drink more water than usual and have even kept down some cheese and sauce and peanut butter crackers. Has this happened to anyone else? Could it have been a 24hr flu bug or a fluke? Help!!! Should I wait a couple of days before having the endoscopy to see it my symptoms come back?    — pam29922 (posted on May 19, 2002)

Hi! I had this problem about 5 weeks ago ( I am 18 weeks post op). I was in the hospital 2 times with this. I had 3 endoscopes and various other tests. I was diagnosed with reflux. My surgeon told me to take Dimetapp. I was taking 1 teaspoon once a day. I have been fine ever since. I just stopped taking it and I have been fine. I hope this helps. Tracy

I have had 4 dialations for my stoma now and I'm 3 months post op. Everytime I need a dialation I "get better" cancel my appointment, then proceed to throw up again the next day!! Sometimes you are more relaxed than others and you can eat. other times you throw up water. It won't go away on it's own, BELIEVE ME!!!

i checked your profile and you are just a few weeks post op, right? i learned at one of my post op classes that the post op surgery swelling peaks at about 5 weeks. maybe this is what is happening. you do have to be careful about remaining well hydrated and nourished so if these periods last very long, your health would be at risk. if you trust your doctor, discuss your concerns with your doc and follow his advice. good luck.
