Question:
Detour bars by designer whey, is this true?

I went to the gas station by my work today to get one of these for lunch and they were out and the guy working there said that they are no longer going to carry these bars because the labeling was incorrect on them. Where it said they actually only had like 20 something carbs, they actually had over 70 and some of the other ingredients were incorrect. I KNEW IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! Did anyone else here about this??    — Karen W. (posted on March 19, 2003)

Not to be smart mouth but this has been all over the boards for the past several days. yes it is true that the labels were incorrect but I am not sure of the numbers. They are so big anyway, it would be very hard to eat a whole one anyway so it really doesn't make much difference. They have been recalled and are being re-packaged.

What Mary says is correct. You also gotta learn to rely on the information out on obesityhelp.com rather than some yahoo working at a gas station *G*. <p> The bars are still a good nutritional choice for an occasional protein supplement. 1/2 bar does it for me at 8 months out...JR

Yikes! 33 bucks? that's a lot! I just bought a case of Detour bars at a GNC in Staten Island which is in NYC and I got 12 of them for just 21 dollars.

I spoke with Designer Whey and they said that they had to reformulate the DETOUR bars for proper consistency. I am not happy about the 25 carbs and extra calories and fat but they are still the best choice out there for me as I cannot tolerate shakes. I am also looking forward to the U-turn bars. They also told me they didnt expect any more changes with Detour. Hope so, I have one for breakfast every morning! :-)

The bars i got have the new info on them and it is only slightly different from the old label. I eat half at a time too and the amount of calories per protein gram is still very good. I have heard that they now make a detour bar that is half the size of the original though I have yet to see it. I pay 26.44 per box with no shipping at mrprotein.com and you only have to buy one box as opposed to three on most other site to get the free shipping.
