Question:
Are we allowed to have spicy food?

I am still pre op, but while sitting here and having a little bit of one of my favorites, hot salsa with baked tortilla chips, I bega to wonder about something, so I thought I would come to ask all you lovely people about it. Are we allowed to have spicy foods after surgery, like jalapenos and hot sauce? I know, a lot of people don't like those sorts of things, but they are some of my favorite things to eat with other things. I am hoping I still can. *fingers crossed* tee hee. I know I probably won't miss sweets or anything like that...but I would sure miss my salsa and tortilla chips.    — Lisa S. (posted on February 2, 2003)

I have never liked spicy food, but after surgey I starting liking it. I see no problems with the salsa, the chip--even tho baked--are a different story--too many carbs.

Hi, I agree with the other person who says "EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT"...However, for me, bring on the spicy! I ate spicy before and I still do now...I eat salsa, tobasco, etc...I love Indian food, Mexican, Cajun, etc...You will have to just see. But, your taste buds do change, case in point, I used to LOVE SODA! No, it tastes like CRAP. Good Luck. Heather (Open RNY 8/15/02 - 305/216/150)

I can eat it, in fact, I used to HATE buffalo wings, but now I am addicted to them. I try not to eat them cuz they are fried and the spicy foods tend to give me diarrhea.

Thank you for the question! I am a Jalapeno lover with the spicy hot salsas. Now I know I can look forward to them, as long as my taste doesn't change too much.
