Question:
When will the swelling of my tummy go down?

I had both LAP and OPEN 2 weeks ago and I feel my incision AND intestines are still very swollen. I'm not in pain because of it, it's more of a discomfort.    — Lisa R. (posted on June 9, 2002)

Lisa, I'm 5 weeks post op, Open RNY. The swelling in my belly has finally gone down. I could not get back into my jeans until 3+ weeks post op, just in time to go back to work! My lower abdomen (below my belly button) is still a little swollen, I think. I believe that's because of all of the injections the nurses gave me in the hospital, so it's still a bit bruised. It'll go away, just give it some more time. :)

I was wondering the same thing. Although, I am not in any pain, there seems to be a lot of swelling.

I will be 3 weeks post-op on Wednesday and was wondering the same thing myself. It's miserable isn't? The bloating and the swelling? I'll be soooo glad when it goes down and I start to see the old flabby belly again. :o Anna p.s. I agree it's not so much pain anymore, but very uncomfortable.
