Question:
After almost 4mo post op is it normal to still throw up a lot after eating?

I am sick anywhere from 5min. to 4hours after eating. I proceed to constantly throw up until my pouch is completely empty. Not everyday and not on all food, but sometimes I can eat something one day and the same food on another day will make me sick. I know this is a sick subject, but I don't know how to explain it. It is not just nausea. It starts out like a bubble and continues until food is dumped. Please excuse my explanations, but I need to know if this was normal for some of you out there. Thank you for your imput.    — Diana A. (posted on September 16, 2001)

Hi Diana... yes, I was sick almost everyday for the about the first nine months. More diarrhea than vomiting...but I normally felt pretty sick after eating a meal. Somedays I was fine, and somedays I just couldn't eat anything at all. It was pretty depressing. I had to lay down on my side on the couch for about two hours after dinner every night. Then, magically, at ten months, the sickness disappeared, and I have been fine since. The only time I am the least bit uncomfortable is if I eat something sweet (had a bit of birthday cake at a party the other night, didn't want to be rude. Big mistake. Hang in there...it gets, much, much, much, better. Just focus on how much weight you are losing during this sickly phase, and keep your protein high....supplements were the only way I could get it in.
