Question:
Has anyone used a THUNDER STICK?

Just saw it on TV last night and it looked like it would be pretty useful after surgery. I was just wanting to know if anyone has bought and used one and is it worth the money. ($59.95)    — Kim B. (posted on September 3, 2001)

Sorry guys.........a THUNDER STICK is a hand held mixer type thing and it comes with 3 or 4 different blades. It even will mince raw meat up for you to cook which I thought would be great since we have to chew, chew, chew. They always make these things out to look so great on TV and was hoping someone out there has tried it.

I have what you call a thunder stick, I didn't know that is what it is called. It works great, I use it for my protein shakes. And it is small enough to take with you.

actually these have been around for years. can't recall what they used to call them though but i bought one about five years ago for twenty bucks. It was a pretty handy thing to use, did about everything a blender and chopper did

I have a Thunder Stick and I've used it every day since the surgery. When I bought it a few months ago I thought it was another impulse purchase that I would never use and then I had the surgery and needed blended protein shakes and pulverized food. Suddenly my Thunder Stick became the most useful item I've bought all year. It chops and blends everything with minimum mess and in its original container. Yesterday I whipped some cheese enchiladas in its original cheap plastic container and then poured the results into an ice cube tray for future meals. There was no mess and the clean up consisted of running the end of the device under hot water and then hanging it up back on its little stand. I tried, by the way, using a more traditional blender and a food processor, but found the Thunder Stick to be by far the easiest way to go. I sound like I'm doing a commercial for the company, but truly it's great to be able to rave about something that I at first thought was a waste of money. I would recommend to anyone who has had this surgery and needs an easy way to mix things up.

Hi Kim, I have one but it is a cheap one. No attachments, but I really like mine. I use it for many things like making my soups creamier or for milk shakes or just generally for mixing liquids of any kind. My daughter bought it for me at KMart. I think she got it on sale for just $10.00. It is also good for pureeing cooked veggies or meats.

I bought a Thunder Stick from the infomercial just for my surgery and really love it. I've heard other people say they've gotten similar appliances from KMart or WalMart for a lot cheaper. I don't know if it's worth the difference in price but I do know the Thunder Stick is very powerful and works great and is easy to clean, etc. If you're going to order it though give yourself enough time for it to arrive because it took mine a while to get here (as I remember it took about 4 or 5 weeks). I don't know if it's available in stores. I heard Braun makes a decent one too. Using this appliance really gives you a lot more options when you're on the pureed diet and afterwards. I even pureed seedless watermelon at 2 weeks post op. It was juicy and delicious. The other poster is right, it's been around for years and they used to call it the "Daily".

Braun... at Target... under $20 bucks... very powerful, works great for post op creamed soups, all kinds of fruit purees, bean puree for refried style and shakes. Save $50... infomercials cost a lot to produce.

Don't do it! I bought it and then sent it back, does NOT live up to the commercial! I was so disappointed.

I have a Braun hand-held blender which I've been using for 4 years now. It blends, grinds, purees -- everything! I think it would puree an ox. On the Food Channel, the Two Fat Ladies call it a "Kitchen Vibrator".
