Question:
Has anyone gotten insurance approval for excess skin removal even if its not severe?

I'm 6 months postop and my legs have the classic baggy look that I see in liposuction commercials. I dont consider my case to be severe but then I wouldnt want to wear shorts or a bathing suit either. I'd like to hear from people who were successful in getting their insurance to cover excess skin removal and also find out whether its better to wait until I reach my goal weight (I have 75 lbs to go) or if it would work out if I had something done now.    — [Anonymous] (posted on April 11, 2000)

I have not heard about having excess skin removed on legs or arms, only on the abdomen. I had an abdominoplasty/panniculectomy on 3-30 to remove my "apron". I am 9 months post op and have lost 95 lbs and was having problems with pressure on my bladder from the excess skin and also with rashes beneath the overhanging skin. My surgery was fully covered by my insurance, Prudential.
