Question:
My question: Is arthritis considered a co-morb to qualify for surgery?

Recently during an MRI, the results came back as my having mild arthritis in my neck. My question is does arthritis help you qualify for the surgery? I have heard it is a co-morb wanted to know. Also why would mild arthritis hurt sooooooooooo bad.    — Amy T. (posted on January 26, 2003)

Yes, arthritis is a co-morb. I don't know about your severe pain, tho. Maybe you only show mild arthritis but your breasts, tummy, etc are pulling down so hard it's making the pain severe?

I have severe arthritis everywhere and i asked my surgeon the very same thing. His answer was "you won't die from arthritis. You may think you will but you won't. Therefore it is NOT a co-morb. A co-morb is something that you can die from. Hope this helps.
