Really? How did you find that out? I looked on a label and it didn't say either carbonate or citrate. Just curious! I was almost hooked! I'm having a hard time tryin to find citrate capsules. I can't swallow the HUGE citrate pills and cutting them in half makes them taste gross goin down.

I've heard we do not absorb it as well as the citrate. I buy Calcium Citrate capsules from www.vitalady.com and dump them in my protein drink or swallow them. I too can't swallow big horse pills but for some reason I can take the capsules.

Hi, I don't know about the coral calcium, but I found two great calcium capsules that I can take with no problem. I hated the big dry pills and could never find a chewable or liquid. These are both easily absorbed and assimilated, dissolve quickly and provide all the calcium, VitaminD and magnesium that I need. They can also be opened and added to yogurt, protein drink or whatever. One is by Twin Labs. I got it from Michelle Vitalady.com It is called Tri-Boron Plus plus Magnesium, Vitamin D and Co-factors. The other is the calcium supplemnt from bariatric systems. You have to take 2 caps three times a day, but I have it down down and it is not a problem. I am not pitching products for anyone. I just had a hard time finding a calcium citrate that I could take easily and these both work for me.

If you can't stomach the other ways you can find liquid calcium citrate several places on the net. I get mine from www.vitaminworld.com. Favorite flavor = lemon custard (tastes like lemon flavored yogurt).

Just a note for people having trouble swallowing pills. I can't take even the smallest of caplets with just liquid. They seem to get stuck and I used to be able to take about 7 or 8 pills every morning in one gulp with a glass of water. I now take my calcium, pre-natal vitamin (also a fairly large pill) and everything else with yogurt. I take a spoonful of yogurt, hold it in my mouth, pop the pill(s) in after and swallow the whole thing. Before I could tolerate yogurt, I did the same thing with sf Jello and with applesauce. I can now take a whole Citrical w/o having to break it in half as long as I take it with a spoon of yogurt. I use one container of yogurt for a whole day, just putting it back in the fridge between pill taking sessions.

What is coral? Dead animal bones. Same as Oyster Shell (like OScal-get it OS= Oyster shell?). Personally, I'm not eating dead animal bones. Calcium would be absorbed in the intestine (the part that is bypassed), normally. So, we have to give it every POSSIBLE chance to be absorbed by sticking with the best. Calcium citrate.
