Tummy tucks are usually paid for IF you have problems with the excess skin. Things like skin rashes and infections, hernias, back pain, an apron that hangs so low it interferes with walking. If you are having rashes and nothing else, talk to your doctor every time you have one. Those need to be well documented for most insurance companies. In short, if it is medically necessary and not just cosmetic, it's more likely for the insurance to pay for it.

I have Aetna Open Access PPO. I was approved for "skin removal" in November. They have clear criteria listed on the Aetna website for approving this surgery. I am very satisifed with my tummy tuck! Best of luck! Barbara Clark WLS 02/19/01 Start weight 358lbs 5'11" Now: 195lbs.

I have Aetna HMO and was approved for surgery in 7 days. The doctor that is doing the GBS does tummy tucks, thighs, and arms when you reach goal. He takes care of the paperwork and insurance issues.
