Question:
Does anyone know of a PROTIEN pill vs drink?

I am 45 days (41 lbs less) post-op,and two STOMAS (BLOCKAGE) and a 2x Blood Transfuions better. My question is because of the diffc with eating and drinking, I am having a very diffucult time getting the protien consumed. Do anyone know of a PROTIEN PILL? I would be greatly appreciative. — [Anonymous] (posted on October 11, 2001)

Sorry...a bunch of us asked our nutritionist this, and she said to get the amount of protein needed in a pill, the pill would need to be as large as a orange. Don't think anyone has tried since this is hardly feasible.

Have you tried protein bars? I also had a hard time drinking the protein drinks but I discovered that protein bars can give you as many grams of protein as gagging down one of the drinks. There are many difference kinds - buy one or two and see which ones you like. Good luck. Lynne

GNC makes a protien liquid that is really good..it is not the powdered crap...I have been dilated 7-8 times and had a very hard time getting down anything but water....the stuff is called ....pro performance....1850 it's flavor is cherry...now what i do is taie a bottle and fill it 3/4 with wter.... then the rest crystal light..any flavor..then three tbl protien...honest it is easy to get down and doesn't taste bad the way i do it. Good Luck Sharon

I totally understand. I'm almost 3.5 weeks post op and I had some minor complications. I got started on the protein drinks a little later than people that had their surgery about the same time. Unfortunately for me I threw them all up. I tried different kinds--shakes to drinks. I couldn't stomach the protein bars...nothing would stay down. So, I started eating more tuna, chicken, beef (yes, I can tolerate beef!). I told my dr. about my problems and he said I'm just going to have to learn how to survive on protein from my food...eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day...never quite feeling full. I too asked about the pill...unfortunately I was told one pill has appx. 1 gram of protein...for me I'd have to take 50+ pills. Talk to your doctor obviously, but if all else fails, there are very high protein foods. Good Luck!

Actually, there IS a pill.....although I have NO idea how effective it is. Here is the website for information: http://www.solgar.com/online_reference/amino/whey_to_go_tabs.html
