Question:
Am I nuts? No bariatric surgeons in N.M.?

Did I miss the boat or something? I have a friend who is looking for a surgeon in New Mexico and can't find one. I can't imagine that there's no surgeons there who are doing bariatric surgery there. If they're not doing surgery there....how come? Can someone give me the scoop?    — ronascott (posted on January 21, 2005)

If your friend is in eastern NM, she might try Lubbock, TX. It's only an hour or two away and there are a couple of bariatric surgeons in Lubbock.

Your friend needs to look a little harder. (1) Jonathan A. Schoen, M.D--Denver, (2) Dr. Mehrzad Bozorgnia, (3) Dr. Gerald Demarest, (4) Dr. Donald Fry, (5) Dr. Joseph Perera, (6) Dr. Maria Terry. I found all six of these bariatric surgeons listed on this site. Only the first one has put in his information so far. Good luck to your friend.

There are several greatr surgeons in El Paso...better than Lubbock in my opinion.
