Question:
Post-TT skin sensitivity? HELP!!!

I had my TT a month ago and for the last 2 weeks, the skin on my stomach above my wound (which isn't healing!)has been excessively sensitive. Like little stinging knives in a band across the front. It hurts if AIR touches it, let alone anything else! Strangely enough, it hurts the most when I first undress and expose it to air and hurts BADLY for some time. Changing my dressings, if the nurse's pinky barely grazes the skin, I'm practically off the table and crying. Theories have been yeast, nerves healing underneath and overstimulating, shingles, reaction to things put on my stomach, no one seems to really know. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? What is it? What can I do for it? Any possibilities would be VERY appreciated!!!    — jen41766 (posted on September 26, 2003)

I had the same thing after a tubal ligation a couple of years ago, and it brought me to tears more then once. I was told it was exposed nerve endings, and it went away after a few weeks. You have my sympathy. It was so painful I hated pulling down my pants to use the bathroom.

I had my panni july 8th of this year and my skin was like that. I am almost 3 months out and the feeling has gone down some but is still very sensitive. I posted a question two times asking the question you did, but didnt get any responses, so I was relieved to see your question... The feeling is getting less and less but there are days when air hits it and I jump. I still wear my binder because it feels alot better w/ the added support. Did your doc take off the skin above the belly button or just below? Mine took off the bottom roll and said he would tighten up the roll above my bellybutton but I dont feel he did a good job... email me if you want to talk, I know what you are going through...
