I make those a lot for my family and I usually just pick out the cheese and have a bite with tomato sauce, yummy. It goes down very smooth too. I can't see a reason why you can't. Bon Apetite!

Sometimes the heavy or thick pastas can be a little difficult, especially at first. I'm 2 1/2 years out and still have to eat tiny bites if its the large shells or ravioli or even spaghetti. I love angel hair pasta, though, but have to cut it up. Try tiny bites at first, and chew well. Take your time eating, and if it works, great. Just remember it's very high in carbs, but I'm one of those that believes anything is moderation is OK. My problem is the moderation part. LOL

Stacey - I would first check with your surgeon. My surgeon had us on 4 weeks of clear liquids and then we progressed to 3 weeks of pureed foods and then finally slowly adapting to soft solids and after about 2 months, was finally able to start eating solid foods again. I would say that stuffed shells are full of carbs and the pasta can cause you to feel too full (pasta expands in your pouch). Especially with you only being 4 weeks out, your new pouch is still pretty small and baby like. Give it a chance to heal and then slowly start to experiement with your foods. Good luck and congrats.

I love those shells! Unfortunatly I seem to have to eat just the insides. I can eat some of the shells, but they seem to weigh pretty 'heavy on the gut'. But being so new post op it is a question you probally should ask your surgeons office about.
