Question:
How soon can I travel after lap?

I'm having lap bypass on 4/16/01.I have the opportunity to fly to Vegas (4 hours) on 4/28/01. If no complications and I feel well, should I go? The Doctor says don't travel for a month...but that seems extreme. Instead of going back to work, I'm going on a brief vacation. Thoughts? Advise?    — [Anonymous] (posted on March 23, 2001)

Hi...had LAP RNY 1/16/01(48lbs downs)had surgery on Tues, out of hosp on thurs, flew home Sunday, back to work on Mon...BUT...if you're going to have fun in Vegas..you may not have much of it....when I was home I went to work but I was in a total fog for at least a week...NO ENERGY AT ALL.

I asked this exact question of my Doc. He said as long as you are able to get up at least once and hour, stretch, and move around it was fine.
