Question:
Symptoms of blood clots?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the symptoms of blood clots. I know I walk and have my feet an legs bandages to prevent blood clots, but, I wondered wha t he symptoms were. I have had numb/tingling sensation on and just above my left knee since my first day in the hospital. I was just wondering if I should be concerned.    — Stacie B. (posted on July 13, 2003)

Pain, warmth and redness in the area of the clot are all sympthoms but when it goes to the lungs there are no symptoms except sometimes shortness of breath. They travel virtually unnoticed and are sometimes known as the "silent killer". The numbness and tingling you feel could be from the way you laid on the table for the surgery. It could have temporarily pinched a nerve off. This should subside. However, if you have concerns, you should call your surgeon asap. he should always be your first choice for info.
