Question:
Another Gall Bladder surgery question?

Okay - first I want you all to feel really sorry for me! Because tomorrow (Mar. 25) was to have been my WLS date. But because my GB is full of stones I am having THAT surgery first and the other is postponed for TWO FULL MONTHS. Now, I've never had surgery before - and here it is the day before and I have kind of a tickly throat and an occassional cough. I've had this for several days. It is NOT getting worse, but doesn't appear to be better either. Tonight I am going to get a call from surgery scheduling. Should I mention this, or shouldn't I? To me, as an up and walking around human being - I don't feel sick and it is just an annoyance. Do any of you have medical experience where you would know if this is something I should be concerned with? Or should I try to go ahead with the surgery. SOoner I get this one done - the sooner I can do the other one. Oh ... and to add insult to injurIES -- my monthly friend started yesterday. I don't mean to sound flighty - I'm just needing your best advice. (BTW - the other Gallbladder conversation answers a LOT of my questions on why he wouldn't do the GB at the same time as the WLS - so thanks!)    — Allee Z. (posted on March 24, 2003)

Allee, are you running a fever? Any other symptoms? If you are running a fever the will probably cancel your surgery. You might want to call your surgeons office and see what they want you to do, just in case. Try gargling with some warm salt water and see if that helps the throat tickle at all. Good luck.

Sorry to see you have to wait another 2 months. I know my Dr.s in San Francisco would have done both surgeries at the same time. However, I had my gall bladder removed 16 years ago so I didn't need to worry about that, but once they got in there (I had the LAB/RNY) they did remove some adhesions due to my old GB surgery. Good luck to you.

I agree a fever over 100 will cancel surgery...it did me! I also have gallstones and the doctor is going to remove my gallbladder when he does my open RNY.

I had RNY AND a gall-bladder removal (because it was full of stones), so why won't your surgeon do both--that is LUDICROUS!!!! Not to mention COSTLY and UNNECESSARY!!! Hope it all works out for you!!!
