Question:
I had open rny on 9-30-02

First, everything I ate today is approved by my doctor if tolerated. I had 3/4 piece of toast with peanut butter and whole fruit. lunch 4 crackers with tuna. snack 1/2 cup of low-fat cottage cheese. dinner 1/4 cup diced chicken breasts and about 6 grape tomatoes. I have felt guilty since the crackers and tuna at lunch. Is this too much food in one day? I have not vomited or anything but did not feel "full" until after the chicken tonight. Do not feel guilty about your choices yesterday. If you do not add anymore carbs than that you are ok. You should try to do the tuna salad thing w/o crackers but sometimes we just NEED a cracker. You will have days where you eat exceptionally good and then there are those bad days. Just like life. Stay the course and you will be fine.

I had surgery on the same day. Sounds like you are doing good. I seem to like crackers as well.

You are not a failure. And that is not too much food for a day. Hopefully you are also getting in your water too. If your doctor has approved your diet, why do you feel guilty? Some others may not be able to eat as much as you and others would be eating more. Just remember to eat protein first (which you are doing), chew carefully and drink water. You are fine.

What you ate was fine!!! Dont beat yourself up over it. 4 crackers and 3/4 a piece of toast does not qualify as 'overdoing' it in the carb department. The best advice i can give is eat smart and stop when you are full. DO NOT obsess over what and how much you are eating. It will drive you crazy by the time you get to goal.
