Question:
Does anybody know if you can have WLS if you have hepatitis B??

I'm not sure about Hepatitis B, but I have Hepatitis C and my surgery is tomorrow! I didn't know that I had it until we got the results from my pre-op tests back. I just had to have more blood tests to determine my viral load and that kind of stuff. After those came back fine, the doctor said there is no reason for me not to have the surgery. I think as long as your Hepatitis is under control, your viral count is low, and you don't have any significant liver damage, then you should be able to have surgery. It also could depend on your other co-morbs and your surgeon's comfort level. If he doesn't think he'll be able to perform the surgery safely, he's probably not going to do it.

I've got Hep. C and I had surgery 3 months ago....Hepatitis A, B or C should all be basically the same...yes, I believe you can still have it. :)
