Question:
For people who aren't having plastic surgery...

I am waiting on a surgery date but have been approved. I see alot of woman get to sizes 10 and under that started at my size (300lbs 5'6).How many had to have plastic surgery to achieve that? I already know I will not be able to have plastic surgery but would still like to get to a size 10. Can anyone let me know their stats without plastic surgery? I'm only 20 so I'm hoping my skin might bounce back a little.    — LaKeAffy (posted on May 16, 2002)

Hi I don't have an answer for you, but I hope someone does. I'm in a similar place as you. I'm 21 w/ a BMI of 46. I'm really hoping I won't need any plastic surgery. Anyone out there have any thoughts?

Hello, I started out at 341 5'6, wearing a tight 28, and now 35 lbs from goal , I wear a size 12. My surgeon wants me to lose 20 lbs or so then get a tummy tuck, My clothes are already loose now, so I'll be going into an 11 and then a 10 before any reconstructive surgery will be done, so yes it's possible to get into a 10 or smaller without the extra skin being taken off. Good luck to you! :)

Forgot to mention that I am 29, and that saggy skin is an issue of the obese losing weight, regardless of age. Yes some younger people may have bounce back skin to a point, but the chance that you won't have some loose skin is real slim.

I started out at 248 and a size 24 and I'm now 158 and in a size 10 with no plastic surgery (yet). However, I think once you start losing the weight and you see how much better you look in clothes, you also want to look just as good out of clothes. That normally prompts people to get plastic surgery. I think once I have plastic surgery, I'm going to feel better about the way my body looks and I'll also probably drop to a size 8 or size 6.

I have not had plastic surgery (although I am looking into it) and I am down to a size 4. I started at a size 28/30. Plus I am one of the older ones at 47 years old. Good luck!

I am 31 yrs old 5'5 inches tall and started at 250+ lbs and had the open RNY 11-12-01, I have now lost 128 lbs and I do have the saggy skin but I am only looking into plastic surgery for me personally, because I am wearing a size 6 and as long as I have on clothes I look pretty darn good compared to how I looked 6 months ago. You can do it, GOOD LUCK!

I'm 36, 5'2" and weighed 264. I am 16 months post op and weigh 120. (I've been here for quite a while). I've not had plastic surgery and I wear a size 4. My tummy is a little loose and my boobs sag to my knees, but I am not interested in a TT or breast lift. The only plastic surgery I will consider is for my arms. I would really love to wear sleeveless styles. However, this particular surgery won't affect my size. So, I am enjoying my size 4 without the help of plastic surgery. Shelley

Does anyone know if creatin powder may help loose skin,as it tends to help build muscle. I wonder if this may help if you build muscle it may take away some flab.

Hi..I'm 5'6 and started out at 330lbs. I had my surgery on 09/25/03...getting near to my one year anniversary. I'm currently down 152 lbs. I started at a size 32 and now can wear a 10-14 depending on how the clothes are made. I have lots of extra skin in my tummy, thigh, and upper arm area. when I lay down, the skin on my hips spread out like a tent (shivers)...I'm going to start looking at plastic surgeons very soon and am praying insurance will cover some of it because of all the back pain. but anyway, you can get to a 10 without removing the skin.
