Question:
Why is my tummy soooo hard?

From my belly button up to the top of my incision it is very hard... firm to the touch. Seems way harder than I ever remember it being before surgery. I had open RNY Jan. 11, 2001. I have lost 80 lbs. and have at least 100 more to go. From belly button down it all feels normal. I do have a hernia next to belly button but why would that make my tummy hard up higher? Could I be getting an ulcer? If something was wrong wouldn't it hurt where it is so hard? I do take prevacide so could that be "masking" an ulcer? I would appreciate any input. THANKS!    — Deb H. Seems to me my tummy was hard too for some months following surgery. Never did hurt and eventually it went away. I'm guessing at first it is fluid buildup and then perhaps the process of healing. When in doubt, ask the doc. Good luck!
