I had wls on 5-28-03, hair loss started about 2mos. out. I bought biotin at GNC took two aday, have new growth so it will be thick again. Today several people told me they really liked my hair, its still not as thick in the top as it used to be but I had it cut into a cute style an left the back long an in a flip. With the weight loss an the change in my face shape it works for me. I'm 20lbs from goal weight. So don't worry about the hair loss it will grow back an usually thicker than before, can you say relaxer?

I am due to have surgery at 6:30am. I am big on the hair thing and I know for a fact that u mush get enough protein or u will loose hair! I have already loaded up on Nioxin, Biotin and Dudleys protein. Do not was your hair as much and lay off the hair dryer and flat irons. Another thing get some Olive oil from your grocery store, if not that get some DAX, lanolin. But, most important these things work from the outside, your hair loss is coming from lack of protein for sure. No matter what I have vowed that those shakes will go down.

Hi, I started losing hair around 3 mos. It slowed down a bit but has picked up some what. NOt bad though, I can notice a difference, but it is not that bad. I can truly deal with it. My hair stylist has changed it a little bit to cover the thin spots in the front. According to her it has started growing back in the back of my head. Good luck, MaryLyn 5/21/03 -93

I started losing hair 3 mo. post op. It slowed down and started coming out again 8 mo post op. primarily in the front and top. There is a noticible thinning especially since I have always had thick and long hair. About two months ago I read another Q&A mention zinc sulfate (ask pharmacist for it as it is nonpres. but behind the counter). I tried this and it seems to have ended the fall out and I have a lot of new growth. You know how your hair stands up when it is time for a touch up. Well, this is happening very regularly so I know my hair is growing.

I had surgery on 3/27/03. My hair started coming out a lot at about 6 months. It was really thick but now its REALLY thin. I talked to my dr about it and he stated its from the change in your body--My labs were great actually, my protein levels were really high--so he stated it is not from lack of protein, Just the stress your body is now going through. Of course I was frantic about the hair loss but it will grow back. I got braids (that made it worse). But make sure you take your vitamins.. I switched to prenatals for the extra vitamins and that is helping a lot.

Happy belated holiday! I am 9 months post op I have lost 161 pounds! I have noticed the last month or so that I have some thinning around my forehead but not a big loss at all I worried about that night and day before surgery but with all the great changes I dont worry so much. I would suggest dont use the curling iron and condition as much as possible

My hair started thinning around the temples. I use the Root Organics "Temple Balm" and it's filled back in. I guess the main thing is to pay extra attention to our hair during this period and get reconstructor/deep conditioners as needed. I also take Biotin and Zinc daily.

9-months post op. I lost hair initally, not sure how much hair I was loosing because I decided to get braids after talking to others. I wore braids for about the first 3-months. Since then I still exprience hair loss, but I try to make sure I drink plenty of water and take my vitamins. I'm not really loosing hair any more, but I have noticed my hair grows slower than before.
