Question:
Does anybody have a complete list of bariatric doctors in Tacoma?

I found a Dr. Portor in Tacoma who does Gastric Bypass. I'm still trying to decide what's best for me. I'm going to my regular doctor first, but he doesn't know much about who's available in Pierce or Kitsap counties. I've found a couple of web sites. Thanks, everybody.    — Ken M. Ken - Try going to the web site for the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons (asbs.com). They have a surgeon's registry.

You can email me privately. I live here & had my WLS done 9 yrs ago. There are many docs in the area, but you'll have to define bariatric a little. Do you mean general surgeons who can do this or docs who do ONLY this?

I live in Des Moines and had Dr. Thirlby almost 2 yrs ago. Here are a few: Dr. Oh in Federal way (St. Francis Hosp) Dr. Thirlby in Seattle (Virginia Mason) Dr. Weber in Seattle Hope this helps! Email me if you have any questions and I can tell you about some support groups in the area.

I live in Port Orchard, I believe there are no bariatric surgeons in Kitsap county. I had Dr. Oh. I'm not sure if he does DS or not. There is a Dr. Fox in Tacoma, then again I'm not sure if he does the DS. We also have a support group for WLS surgies in Port Orchard at the Days Inn on the 3rd Tues of the month. So the next one will be August 19th.

Thanks everybody. I had my first doctor visit and I'm going for an initial consult with Dr. Fox. I'm still looking for a doctor who does DS. I feel this is the best for me. There are only 2 in this state and 1 in Portland.
