I found them at a health food store near my house, but Vitalady also carries them now, too---www.vitalady.com. They are called "Detour" bars.

You can also order them on-line at netrition.com. Flat rate shipping so you can get the Whey Stack protein too while you're at it! The local GNC is ALWAYS out of the Detour bars, so ordered them since I think they're yummy. As close to Snickers as a protein bar is going to get, although it won't fool anybody in a blind taste test :)

I agree with the last poster. For those people expecting this to taste exactly like a Snickers bar, you are going to be disappointed. However, it's the best approximation there is in a protein bar. They have just come out recently with another bar called the "U-Turn Bar" which tastes similar to a Milky Way. It tastes pretty good too. The URL is http://www.uturnbar.com There are over a couple of dozen members of the UPENN support group that have had either the Detour bar and/or the U-Turn bar and everyone loves it. It's hard to understand why some people don't like it :-(, but I guess that's why Baskin-Robbins makes 31 flavors of ice cream *G*...JR (open RNY 07/17 -157 pounds)

Just wanted to post that our local GNC said that the Detour were being recalled and are being repackaged because of innacurate nutrition information. One of the gals in my support group contacted the company that makes them and they were told that there are about 20-30 more calories per bar, 1 g less fat, and a total of 9 grams of sugar in them (instead of the previously listed 6 grams of sugar). They are being repacked to reflect the corrected nutrition information.

wlssuccess.com has both detour bars (tastes like a snickers) and the u-turn bars.

Lynette - I hadn't heard about the recall, but I know the newer Detour bars have the new nutritional info on them and the web site has been updated as well. Considering that most people are only going to eat 1/2 a bar at a time and usually no more than one bar a day (if that), the impact of the additional calories should be minimal...JR

i got mine from [email protected] he sells them by the case of 12 for 24.00 no shipping and handling! that is only 2.00 apiece. they are good for a protein bar, but there is no such thing as a perfect candy-like protien it does not happen in this reality, but these are good compared to some of the others i have have tried! and for 2 dollars the yare worth it to me.

I found an alternative to the Detour bars since I couldn't find them. They're called Balance Gold Caramel Nut Blast. The run around $.87 at Sam's by the box of 15. I've found another flavor at the grocery store called Triple Chocolate Chaos. Out of this world. They are the 40 30 30 type of nutrition bars and while they have a little bit of sugar, they don't make me dump and I'm a dumper. They contain around 15 grams of Protein and make breakfast a joy for me.

The balance gold is not comparable to the Detour bar which has 30 grams of protein. You can do an internet search, type in DETOUR bar- I have read on the MB that they are available on EBAY. I purchase them locally at Nurti Sport.
