Question:
Anyone self pay in Missouri?

I am pretty frustrated because my surgery in Columbia Missouri was canceled only two weeks prior to my date after I had waited for over a year! This was due to financial problems at the Univ of MO. Anyway, I am a student and I don't have good health ins, but I do have medicaid and I am approved for the surgery. Now that my surgery has been canceled I am totally back to end of the long lines again. Dr. Eagon's office said that the wait for a medicaid patient was summer 2004! So forget medicaid... My mom is supportive and willing to help me to self pay. I just don't know where to go. It is all so confusing. I have read the posts where people have gone out of state for cheaper surgeries (actually my mom lives in Arizona), people suggest making sure that I am covered so that if something goes wrong the bill doesn't escalate. I have also noted that people have said that surgery was cheaper when they self paid and that they got in faster. Is there anyone in Missouri who can give me some specifics about all these issues and point me in the right direction? Or any other general suggestions would be great.    — Suzanne M. My surgeons were Drs. Scott and delaTorre in Wentzville, MO. 636-327-4500. Wonderful! I had great insurance; I don't know anything about self pay. Give 'em a call. Good luck!!!!!!!!
