Question:
Anyone basically stopped losing weight for months?

Just want to know if there's anyone who's weight loss had slowed to a absolute crawl, and they were able to jump-start it again and make it to goal. Im getting really frustrated.    — Cory F. (posted on April 23, 2002)

Months, huh? Are you more than 8 months post-op? If so, your "window of opportunity" may have closed. This doesn't mean that you can no longer lose weight. It just means that you'll have to work at it, i.e. lots of exercise and water, holding down the carbs, upping protein, etc. Routine plateaus normally only last 6 weeks at the longest.

Hi, I took a look at your profile...and it does look as though you have been losing something every month...so that is a good sign. I can understand the frustration you feel ....I am at 6 mths. since surgery...and have been the same weight for the past month. Nothing lost... very discouraging. I question if this is all I am going to lose...if so I will be very upset. If you get any idea...let me know what will help to kick the weightloss in the butt again...Thanks Lisa

From Aug-Dec I lost just a few pounds (that was months 5-8) - then at xmas it jumped back on again. I swear I didn't do anything different. I lost it - it just is slow...

Oh Man do I have an answer for this. I am 1 yr post-op and have not lost a lb. since my 10 mos. Dont get me wrong I did lose 142lbs. (give or take the 10lbs. I fluctuate). I am very happy about that, but I am 45 lbs. from goal weight now and have been exercising. I dont want to diet again. I am sick up to my eyeballs about Diets. The 142lbs. I lost was in 8 mos. of my surgery 04/12/02

Oh yes!!!! I pretty much quit losing at six months. I'll be a year on May 8th. If I'm lucky I "might" lose 2 pounds a month. I'll never reach goal now before the window is closed. (I think it closed at 6 months). I have 58 pounds to go.

Cory, are you exercising? If so talk to the exercise physiologist at your gym. He Or she sshould be able to help you. The guy at my gym said if I quit loosing for more than a week I should see him and the dietician that day. So far at 15 weeks I have only hit one plateau for about 5 days I am down 64 pounds. I must admit I exercise a lot 75 minutes of aerobics every day and lift weights 4 days per week. One bit of advice given to me keep your body confused don't do the same thing every day(exercise wise) or eat the same amount every day. Variety and lots of water. Good luck Nancy
