OK, you said no horror stories. Here's the summation: I got word today that UHC PPO denied my predetermination for extended abdominoplasty, brachiplasty, breast reduction & lift and inner thigh lift. Request was submitted 4/15/03, UHC denied receiving it until 5/21/03 and that was after faxing it again 4 times and a threat to file a complaint with the state insurance commission. I am in the process of mailing my formal complaint to the State of Illinois Dept. of Insurance regarding UHC's "stall tactics." Stall tactics is the term the insurance commission used when I called them on 5/27/03. Sorry, I'm bummed. Don't mean to bum you out, too. I'm appealing their decision. It's heartwrenching but we all must keep fighting the good fight. These surgeries ARE reconstructive, not cosmetic.

I have UHC POS and I was approved for TT and breast lift within 2 weeks. I was denied for the thigh lift but the denial was overturned by the employers as it was a self-funded policy and the employers make the final determination. I had a brachioplasty but did not seek approval for that. I had implants with the lift but paid for those myself, so the TT, thigh lift and breast lift cost me $800 bucks. Not bad! hugs, Ann rny 9/10/99 260/124
