Question:
Does anyone know Dr.William Todd Overcash , and how long in WLS?

Also would be interested in knowing how many surgeries he has performed. I have an appointment with him soon and am nerveous and excited at the same time.    — Jean B. (posted on February 14, 2002)

Hi Jean. Congratulations! You've picked a really terrific surgeon. I had open RNY with Dr. Overcash on 12/28/01. I can't tell you how long he's been doing the procedure or how many he's done. I do know that he is in surgery 4 days a week (I don't think he operates on Wednesday). I know he's affiliated with both of the major Ocala hospitals (Monroe & Ocala Regional). The day I had my surgery done, he did 3 other bypass surgeries. Dr. Overcash is a very gifted surgeon, in my opinion. He is not a hand-holder. He seems to want his bypass patients to be highly motivated and confident that this is the best next step in their weight loss journey. He has two other surgeons in practice with him. I was in the hospital for 5 days and saw one of the surgeons every morning of my hospital stay. I came all the way from Jacksonville to have surgery with Dr. Overcash in Ocala. I'm very glad I did.

I had an appointment with Overcash back in Oct. 2001, I had talked to his office manager and she had told me I would be approved in a heartbeat for the gastric band surgery---ater taking off a day and driving over 250 miles--I was called in the back--weighed and in less than 2 minutes he told me that my insurance would not pay for the banding and to come back if I was interested in having the other surgery--- that more than likely it would be a fight with the insurance company---from the time I was called back to I went to my car was less than 5 minutes--at the tune of $175 that was at my expense--I am sure he is a talented surgeon--but I found one closer to home that only does one surgery a day so he can monitor his patients better-

BTW, I realized last night that this question was listed as "doctor not in database". Dr. Overcash is in the data base if you search alphabetically, not by area. Good Luck.
